This study presents the result analysis of a survey conducted in November-December 2014 on a representative sample of dynamic firms having at least one local branch in Tuscany. The main purpose of the survey was to cross-examine on the issue of key professional figures the productive businesses that were most successful in facing the recent challenges, having registered an increase in staff size and/or turnover during the years of economic crisis. The investigation made possible to identify the modalities that the leading-edge Tuscan production system adopts to satisfy its training needs, and also to highlight the difficulties in finding the most strategic professionals. The research also briefly discusses the relationships established by firms with the world of education and professional training. A range of views were gathered on the current education and training system. At the same time, it was explored the availability of the interviewed firms to cooperate on these issues in the future.
