Tools for financial independence in the Metropolitan Cities

The attention of current national policies to local governments is increasingly focusing on metropolitan areas. In such a time of strict constraints on central and local finances, any change in the organizational and fiscal frameworks characterizing large conurbations are considered an opportunity for boosting the economy of territories and, with them, the whole “Italy system”. The political agenda is attaching a growing importance to metropolitan areas, as witnessed by the several reforms carried forward by different countries in the aim of creating, or strengthening if already present, specific government entities for representing large metropolitan areas.
