This work provides a configuration of interregional-international value chains activated by Italian domestic food consumption and shows how some countries and regions produce most of the agricultural goods necessary to supply final demand. Second, it provides a conceptual framework to assess the vulnerability of the Italian food regional systems, based on food products criticality. Finally, a spatial- and product-based disaggregation of agricultural production in Italian regions which well captures the exposure of the Italian food system to the flood that hit Emilia-Romagna in May 2023 will be presented.<\/p>\n\n

Second, it provides a conceptual framework for assessing the vulnerability of Italian regional food systems, based on the concept of food criticality.
