The closing of 2013 corresponds with the end of a protracted and deep recession that significantly affected the Tuscan economy as well. The first signs of recovery started to show in the final part of this year, but provided weak evidence of a straight exist from the difficulties that are still visible in our region’s economic and social framework. Given this situation, and according to the available indicators, Tuscany seems to have survived the great downturn much better than the other regions of the country. However, we are certainly at a transition stage, in which the behaviour of economic agents breaks away from their conventional ways, making any prediction of the future highly uncertain.
It is therefore better to evoke the possible scenarios and draw the development paths that will presumably follow specific fiscal and budgetary policies, as well as the so-called structural reforms expected for the next few years.
