Italy and its regions have experienced a sharp and prolonged decline in GDP and productivity growth between the late 90s and the early 2000s. In this respect, the Tuscan economy makes no exception and displayed a macro dynamics much in line with the one characterising other advanced Italian regions. However, Italy is in good company, since most developed economies have experienced a slowdown in productivity growth which predates the Great Recession.
