CONTEXT WITH OFFICIAL STATISTICAL SOURCES AND RESULTS OF DIRECT SURVEYS PROMOTED BY THE REGIONAL COMMISSION

This work was commissioned to IRPET by the V Commission of the Regional Council of Tuscany, responsible for education and culture and chaired by Cristina Giachi. It is an informative tool to support the planning of the Commission’s activities and the revision of Regional Law 21/2010 “Consolidated Law on cultural heritage, institutions, and activities.”

The report includes an initial chapter providing an overview of the sector based on official statistical sources and two subsequent chapters analyzing data obtained through direct surveys. The questionnaires were developed in collaboration with members of the Fifth Commission, officials from the Regional Directorate for Culture, operators from the Fondazione Sistema Toscana, and representatives of trade unions.

The importance of the cultural sector for Tuscany is well known. Thanks to its rich cultural heritage, the region, and in particular its cities of art, starting with Florence, attract huge numbers of international tourists every year, who contribute significantly to the regional economy, with an estimated weight of around 12% of GDP (…)
