The evolution of the tertiary sector in Tuscany in the decade 2012-2022

The aim of this note is to analyze the main structural changes that have affected the tertiary sector, now largely predominant, in the decade 2012-2022. The year 2022 is the last available for the main official source on businesses (Istat-Asia), so it is not currently possible to further update the analysis. The period under consideration is inevitably influenced by the impact of the 2020 pandemic, both negatively (the sharp declines experienced by many phenomena, starting with tourist numbers) and positively (the push towards the widespread use of new technologies). Many of the phenomena highlighted in this note will then be confirmed when data less influenced by the pandemic shock become available.
