Tourist flows in Tuscany in the first 5 months of 2023

The trend in tourist flows from January to May supports the positive considerations and expectations for the regional tourism sector in 2023 formulated in the Annual Report.

Compared to the same period in 2022, the growth in tourist arrivals is indeed significant (+23.1%) and is driven by the international component (+45.2%), particularly non-European (+88.4%). The overall gap in tourist arrivals compared to the first five months of 2019 is therefore tending to narrow, and at the end of May, it was quantified at around -9%.

On the other hand, the observed dynamics do not dispel the doubts, also raised in the Annual Report, regarding a complete recovery of pre-pandemic attendance levels within the year. (…)
