The difficult situation of the Tuscan fashion industry during 2023

After a slow but progressive post-Covid recovery, the Tuscan fashion industry was characterised by a particularly pronounced negative trend in 2023, which differentiates it substantially from the average dynamics of regional manufacturing. Moreover, representing a conspicuous share of Tuscany’s industry, it contributed strongly to the region’s aggregate result, which was negative compared to the Italian average.
In order to capture the specificities within the overall performance of the sector, let us analyse the dynamics of goods exports. Although these are currently only available for the first three quarters of the year, they present a breakdown by product and territory such that the performance of the main regional specialisations can be captured.
